Question for unitiqute owners

Posted by: Scooot on 18 August 2013

Hi,
I have just requested at my dealers to get a unitiqute on home demo.if I am happy with the sq results i will probably buy one.this would be replacing a sb touch that has worked flawlessly from day one.
My wife uses the touch a lot on random song play.can the qute play random music if I am using it with my current nas drive.

Thanks scott

Only random on indervidual albums As far as i am aware. What annoys me is on random it can (and does) repeat tacks that you have already listned to.  E.g. play track 3 then play track 3 again Evan if not set to repeat!

Cheers Popeye,
I will be able to have the home demo for a couple of weeks. This  should be enough to get my way around the qute to see if it is suitable for me.i just wanted a few heads up on specifics that are important to us.
Random play is a option my wife really wants.the sb touch does this well, playing really random and not repeating at all that I can remember.thanks

There is an All Songs option that can be put on as random.

Hi wat,
You make a very valid point and I can't really disagree with you.my thought on the qute as a streamer was to bring me in to a all naim system.

I have had a SBT for 18months and a Unitiqute 2 since May. I wanted a second system and the UQ was to be the heart of that. I have added an Exposure 2010s Power Amp to the Qute and now have 2 systems I like. The SBT into Hegel 10 Dac - Exposure 2010s Integrated - Proac Response 1sc, and the Qute - Exposure - Deuvel Planets.

I wouldn't say the SBT system with Ping gives much away to the Qute, if at all. The usability of the SBT - Ping is perhaps less frustrating than N-stream.

Do you mean, the Qute as a renderer? How would I stream from the Qute (Have I misunderstood)? I would love to know.

Hi Richardheart,
Qute as streamer only.my music is stored on a qnap nas drive.the qnap would connect by Ethernet to qute then digital out to my ndac.i few redundant bits i know.this would get me on to the naim streaming ladder as the best option vfm for me.i would take a big hit on my relatively new ndac to let's say trade in for a ndx.keeping the ndac and buying a ndx would be great but I couldn't justify £5000+ for source that's without adding power supply to ndac.

Hi Wat,
Cheers for the reply.been realistic i think you are correct in your findings and I will struggle to improve on the touch at what I propose to do.i have been very happy with the touch and its simplicity of use but I have a urge
to have a all naim system.stupid I know because sq should be my main priority.
Maybe I should stick with the touch and add a xps2 to the ndac.i will give the qute a try as I have already requested the demo and take it from there.
Thanks again for all the replys.
