On-line metadata

Posted by: Larry I on 23 August 2013

For the past week or so, I have not been able to get the additional information about particular albums off my NDS server that is normally available for most albums.  The information is normally presented in the form of a booklet that includes track information, information/links to the artist, information about related album/artists, and reviews.

Does anyone know if this is a problem that I, alone, am experiencing or is this some problem with the company that supplies this information?

It's been working for me, consistently.  I'd start by uninstalling and reinstalling nStream.

Bart,

Thanks.  I will try that.

I found another problem with the N-Stream program.  When I selected a playlist that I made, I can start listening, but, the N-Stream program will show that I am listening to some previously selected track and not the track from the playlist that is actually playing.  I am also unable to then move around and select different tracks off of that playlist, and the N-Stream screen (I am using an iPad) shows a connectivity problem.

I downloaded a new program from the App store, which wiped out all of my playlists, but it did not solve the problem of the inability to get metadata off of the Rovi website via the "info" button in the N-Stream program.

Larry, that sounds the cache on your iPad has got out of step with your upnp server. Perhaps the latter has done a complete reindex? Anyway clearing the Nstream cache on the iPad usually sorts this.

Clearing the cache was the first thing I tried, but, I did not try it after reloading the N-Stream app, so I will try that again.

Thanks for reminding me.

I cleared the cache, and still no relief.  With the WiFI network functioning properly, and the new N-Stream app downloaded to the iPad, I cannot think of a reason why this is not working.

Try stopping Nstream on your iPad altogether (do you know how to terminate an app on an iDevice?). Then restart the app. This normaly cures out- off-sync problems.

I have tried stopping the app (as well as stopping all othe apps) and that has not cured the problem.  This problem makes no sense.  When I am playing a track, it does display the track information from Rovi, but, it goes into endless search mode when I ask it to find information about the album.

I can confirm I have the same problem. I am not clear if the track data is from Rovio or local, but I have track data but not Rovio album data. IPad on IOS6, and it has Internet access, as does My UnitiQute and HDX-SSD (E.g. Both can stream Internet radio). And I have tried all of the above suggestions.
