Unitiserve shutting down

Posted by: maze on 24 August 2013

My Unitiserv for some reason unknown shuts down all by itself with no input from me. This has happened four times this week for no apparent reason like power cut or similar. It has recently been to naim to repair and upgrade to 2tb and never did this previously. When I restart the unit it works fine, just cannot fathowhat's this is switching itself off.

Does anyone else experience this? Is this new to the 2 tb unit?

Happened again today.

Does the US have a thermal shut-down facility? If so it might be a faulty temp. sensor or connection.

My SU & UQ2 have temp. readouts so I'm assuming your kit has a similar sensor?

It never happens to my 2tb uServe Maze; it probably has to go back to the shop to get looked at.

Hafler I don't think there is any thermal sensor or any way to tell what temp it is anyhow. Bart it seems to work fine otherwise but it is bit disconcerting as it never did this when it was a 1 tb. Just very odd.

It's entirely possible that something got buggered during the upgrade process.  Quite a bit of hardware is replaced, and human error is always a possibility -- something that didn't show up in their post-update testing of the unit before returning it to you.
