How can NAIM omit album production date?

Posted by: Fordgreene on 24 August 2013

WithWith NAIM's HDX technology being as sophisticated and great as it is, I am continually frustrated that the album credits omit the date the album was produced. Why is this the way it is? It would seem so simple to add this critical bit of information.

That seems like it should be easy to pull from the AMG database.  That would be a nice feature!

I don't recall any news about this, but it appeared that for some time I'm able to see the release date from albums ripped to my HDX.

BTW, I'm using the n-Stream app And I can see it appearing under 'album info'...

Regards,

Michel

N-Serve app on my iPhone and iPad does not show album date. I would very much like that feature adding, or have it explained to me why it doesn't appear on my devices!

I am using an HDX.

After installing the latest HDX software update, I Now can see release dates which is great. Thank you NAIM.

Critical??? Does the album not play without it?

Posted on: 31 August 2013 by blythe

Certainly not critical but, a nice thing to have show up....
So, next thing is how on earth do I update the software????? How do I know what version I have??? What version is "the latest"???
Away for a few days so something I'll have to do on my return!!

Hi Blythe,

There are full instructions on how to update the servers (including how to create the update CDs) included in the server software update download archive on the "Manuals and Downloads" tab of the server webpages....

The version number is listed on the "Home" -> "System" -> "System Status" page on the HDX front panel GUI or from the "System Status" page of Desktop Client or n-Serve for OSX...

The latest software is always available for download from the "Manuals and Downloads" tab of any of the server web pages on www.naimaudio.com...

Cheers

nServe has a field for "release date."  I am looking at it now

Thanks for the info, I shall check it when I get home :-)

OK, I give up.

I've been too busy to look at doing an update until now. Phil Harris kindly offered this advise:

"There are full instructions on how to update the servers (including how to create the update CDs) included in the server software update download archive on the "Manuals and Downloads" tab of the server webpages.."

I have visited the "Manuals and Downloads" section of the Naim website.

I've entered "Hard Disk Player & Servers", then "HDX", then "English" and I get a selection of manuals but, as far as I can see, nowhere is there a "server update download archive".

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

I would like nStream and nServe to display albums as date ordered within Artist (so Revolver comes after Rubber Soul etc). This is how order vinyl and used to order CDs, although reissues couldconfuse  matters.

I've been looking here http://www.naimaudio.com/support/manuals as described by Phil earlier.
Even looking at the link provided by Foxman, I still can't find the 'updater"

Posted on: 03 November 2013 by Phil Harris

Hi,

If you look on the "Manuals and downloads" tab it is located in the section called "Software Download / Update" and called "Software Version 1.7a Update" ...

If you are still unable to find the download then please email me directly again as I can't pop in the link to it from where i am here ...

Cheers

Hi - The support email address is in the sticky at the top of every forum on here ... you can reach us at support@naimaudio.com.

You're actually looking in the wrong place - go to the HDX or Unitiserve product page on www.naimaudio.com, ( http://www.naimaudio.com/hifi-...ucts/pdt-type/hdxssd ) click on the "Manuals and Downloads" tab and it is in that list.

Thank you Adam - I was looking on the main web site for Phil's email address as well as on his profile on the forum

Thank you Phil, I didn't know that I was meant to be looking on the "Product page" and THEN "Manuals & Downloads" - it's confusing (to me) that you can access a "different"   "downloads and manuals" page, not via the "Product Page"... I have now found it thanks - I just need to pluck up the courage to burn the CD's and install them......

Cheers, Martin.
