Cameron & the multicultural society

Posted by: Mike-B on 09 February 2011

Is the anger in the wake of Cameron's speech indicative of denial that the problem exists or is it a lack of understanding of the problem or does Britain not have a problem?

Was Cameron's message intended to be a declaration of intent for UK only or was he just opening up the issue Europe wide.

Did he aim at the Muslim community?

Cameron quoted.
“Under the doctrine of state multiculturalism, we have encouraged different cultures to live separate lives, apart from each other and apart from the mainstream.  We've failed to provide a vision of society to which they feel they want to belong.  We've even tolerated these segregated communities behaving in ways that run completely counter to our values."

 He’s a star.

How amusing/ironic was it to say this to other European leaders. It broadly describes Britain’s relationship the EU. .  Classic.

Is extremism really a problem. Less than 100 deaths in the UK in 5 years due to extremism.
Far more than 100 people have died in the last 5 years due to speeding, drunk driving, domestic violence, food poisoning, etc.

Not to mention many cohorts of ex-pats. Pot, kettle, vision, tunnel, idiot. Not that he should be singled out, they're all as bad as each other.

Who shall we put in the third ark?

I think the main problem with it may have been that said speech was an ill-timed piece of opportunism...
