Best Ever Year for Music

What was the best ever year for music? Post the 5 best albums (in your opinion) from that year as evidence for your case. (There was a thread about 5 years back, now closed)

Hard to argue with the cases for 1959 and 67/68!

My own tastes would place such a year, if there was one, in the early seventies - Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Carole King, Van the Man etc etc all at the peak of their powers - but I can't decide which one!

This left me even more undecided:

I have to agree with Fred's list above for 1968. It smokes everything else mentioned here. To it I'd add the eponymous albums

Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fleetwood Mac, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Steppenwolf, Blood, Sweat & Tears

as well as

Waiting for the Sun - The Doors,

Child is Father to the Man - Blood Sweat & Tears,

Children of the Future, Sailor - Steve Miller Band

A Saucerful of Secrets - Pink Floyd
