Really Land Rovers?

They are too slow to cause any offence. Now Range Rover Evoques are my bĂȘte noire

Excellent.  Thank you Wat.  I've moved this thread to the Padded Cell so we can discuss further...

There are HHGTTG quote's available for almost any occasion.A bit like the bible but more realistic.

"I truly believe that Douglas Adams was a genius."

Arthur Dent, or was it me?

This. All the recycling and conscientious switching off in the world means nothing as we continue to clear and pave over the planet at an ever-increasing pace.

It's hard to let go but they often do come back for a while. I remember dropping my son at Bath University. He had a great time, made some good friends, got a 1st in Economics and an excellent job. He's been living back at home for the last year and moved into a flat in Clapham 10 days ago. We went to visit yesterday and had a nice lunch in town. It was only on saying goodbye that I really felt the ties that bound us for many years were finally loosened. We'll always be close but he's finding his own way in this mad world now and I feel that I've done an adequate job preparing him for it.

You are obviously close to your son and I'm sure he appreciates all the support you've given him over the years.

Does this not fall into the Catch-22 of there is always someone else doing something worse so why should I do anything (that alters my consumption)?

Absolutely. We are all too selfish. It is the tragedy of the commons.

Agreed Howard - and a good advert for giving all that sweaty malarkey in gyms a wide berth.

He died during a work-out in a gym in California, aged 49.
