Clapton. While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The Concert for George show.
Funnily enough I just watched it (for the gazillionth time), logged onto the forum and saw this thread :-)
Maybe it is the eyesight going, Dungassin? :-)
OK, for the classic duo axe-wielding, it must be this. Gary Rossington and Allen Collins in their prime. Simply phenomenal.
Surprised nobody has mentioned Eric's contribution to 'Crossroads', originally on the second LP of Wheels of Fire, recorded live at the Fillmore.
Maybe it is the eyesight going, Dungassin? :-)
No. It just seems a bit hit and miss as to whether it responds to my finger touches. Sometimes the on-screen button changes when touched, but the character doesn't actually appear on screen.
Vision now perfect in right eye after recent cataract surgery, and stil not bad enough in left eye to have that one done.
Clapton's solos on Crossroads are both memorable, as is Jimmy Page's on Heartbreaker.

I am on a Ben Harper morning and just knocked this out through the Naim at higher than normal decibels...not technically brilliant but it moves the music. .
Slide guitar solo on God Fearing Man...probably superior sound through your vinyl though.

Jason.
It's always difficult to come up with a favourite solo, song, album, guitar player etc. as it depends so much on one's mood at the time. However, one solo that I have always found exciting and perfectly placed is Steve Howe's introduction to Close to the Edge.
Hi On sky arts 2 there was a group called acuostic antiet think it was called , May have miss spelled it try and catch it on catch up tv they are very good,The female black singer tops .
Not sure if you would consider these as solos, but ...

Barney Kessel - the backing to Julie London's "Cry Me A River". Absolutely sublime.
John
Guy Harvey has just come to my rescue as I pondered this question with a bit of Ry Cooder's Paris Texas sound track. Best ever? - who knows but its magnificent and just about to be purchased.

I love Jimi playing Machine Gun on the live Band Of Gypsies album.
Think it was Lenny Kravitz who said; 'it's like hearing a man pouring out his soul'.
