Just need a bit of confirmation that Alzheimer's hasn't finally got me. I fired up the study system yesterday (well, just switched it to NDS input) and decided to play one of my Ventures album (blast from the past!). These are in the form of a 4CD set, which I labelled Disc 1, 2, 3, 4.
I tend to use Album/Artist most of the time with Asset/nStream, and under Ventures, only 2 of the albums appeared! Checked in folder view, and all were there. Checked with Twonky (QNAP NAS), and all the albums appeared under Album Artist
Noticed that 'Artist' had disappeared from the music list (album/artist, composer, title, genre etc all still there).
I made Asset refresh itself, but the problem didn't go away. Tried switching to upnp compatibility mode - problem remained.
So ...
Am I going mad and 'Artist' was never there, or has it really disappeared from the Asset choices?
What's the solution? Uninstall and reinstall Asset upnp? Just put up with it and use Folder view to find 'missing' albums?

I had a similar issue with a Genesis double album using Asset 4.1 (+ dbpoweramp 14.3) - Eventually tracked the problem down to the tags DISCNUMBER, DISCTOTAL, TOTALDISCS (I actually posted this defect on the asset forum). So, I suggest checking the tags for the "missing" albums and ensure they are correctly set. I use MP3TAG to do the check/change of tags. Not sure why Artist should be missing though...
cheers

Yes I would check the tags ate correctly set for CD number. Ie ithey are set as 1/4, 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 respectively. This info is often not. Or rectify set in the metadata providers.
Asset can then be configured on how to list these multi CDs in the options.
So I always ensure the words disc 2 or disc 3 are removed from the meta data title and I let Asset add these automatically from disc number meta data.
Doing this I have notahead any issues with Asset 4 and Asset 4.1, even with some very large multi discs.

Timster : Thanks, that was one of the first things I checked. The albums were all correctly identified in the mp3 tags as 1/4, 2/4 etc
Simon : I already had the Asset options to show multialbums as disc 1, disc 2 etc, but still had the album title id tags set as 'album', disc 1, disc 2 etc. I have now changed all these to just be 'album', and that seems to have cured the problem about them all appearing in the album/artist view
All I need to do now is to find out why the 'artist' option has disappeared. Makes it a bit of nuisance when I am searching for a particular track by a particular artist.

John -
I've never noticed a top-level Artist option, only Artist/Album. But under Artist/Album, you can select Artist/All Tracks. Is this the view you are trying to get to?

Artst/Album is the option I use most often. Inreally just want to know whether my memory is playing tricks - did the option Artist actually exist or am I just confusing it with that option in Twonky?
Not a huge problem, but searching under Artist in Twonky does let you easily search for a specific track by specific artist.

Am pretty sure you've confused the two UPnP servers -- there is an "Artist" choice in Twonky, but not in Asset.
"Artist" in Twonky produces the same track list as "Artist/Album - All Tracks" does in Asset.
