iPod difficulties

Has anyone else encountered this problem? The iPod connects ok, but as soon as you enter the menu, the contents (songs, podcasts, playlists etc) appear for an instant then bounce out.

I'd try a hard reboot (use Google to find the particular method for your particular model), and if that doesn't work, connect it to iTunes, 'reset to factory settings' and re-load your library.  In my experience there is nothing you can do if/when they start to act up other than those two things.  Good luck!

Thanks Bart. I should have mentioned I'm trying to play the iPod through the SuperUniti. I've had the SuperU a few months and the iPod option has worked fine until now. Does your advice still hold?

It may be worth switching the SU off for a few minutes, then on again.

I'd look to the SU as well; reboot the SU as  HH suggested above, with the iPod unplugged.  But it's so easy to do a hard reboot on the iPod that you may as well do that too.  A hard reboot on any iDevice once in a while seems a good idea; my iPhones seem to need it every so often.

it does seem odd to suddenly stop working - fingers crossed this fixes it.

Thank you Hungryhalibut and Bart. I'm pleased to say that turning off, leaving it a few minutes and turning it back on has done the trick. It didn;t occur to me to do something as simple as this!

Excellent. My SU has had a funny turn a couple of times, where it seems to freeze up. I guess it contains a lot of computer type bits inside, so doing the first thing you'd do with your computer as the first resort is the easiest thing to do.

Do you stream to the SU too?

Well, I tried with a friend (who also has a Naim system) and we spent some time on the settings of  both the SU and the pc but gave up without success.  Can iTunes be streamed from the pc?

I don't know if you can stream iTunes. The reason I asked is because when I got my SuperUniti earlier this year, it took ages to get the UnitiServe. While I was waiting I made do with my iPod, playing apple lossless. It was good, but nothing to the sound I am now getting from the server. So, if all you are doing is using the iPod, you are getting nowhere near what the SuperUniti is capable of. You don't necessarily need a UnitiServe, a good NAS, such as a synology will be fine.
