Anyone remember this shocker from 1984 Threads

I remember it well Blue. I was born in '62, so I was - as I suspect many on here were - one of that generation that grew up in the shadow of possible nuclear annihilation.

Very powerful film, and very scary at the time, I recall. Think I might watch it again - I'm sure Netflix or LF have it for rent.

Thanks for the reminder.

I also remember it well.. Made quite an impact to me and i seem to remember the country at large and I was a member of CND at the time as well.

Just watched it through again this evening, thoroughly depressing.

Remember it well, during the Cruise and Pershing days.

Also there was 'The Day After' with a particular scene I remember, set at an airport if I remember correctly, looking out the window seeing the exhaust trails from the ICBMs that had just been launched.  Quite chilling.

Hate to say this but 'The Day After' was a typical Hollywood joke compared to Threads.

I remember watching The Day After on TV and felt that it was horribly dumbed down for 'sensitive' American viewers.

A few years later Imamura's 'Black Rain' ( not the one with Michael Douglas) was released in Japan. Went to see in the threater when it was played at art theatre in the US.  Many of my American friends had hard time watching it. The story line is similar to Threads where family deals with aftermath of Atomic bombing in Hiroshima.

Got it on dvd. Powerful stuff at a time when the threat seemed very real.
