Suggestion for improvement to Forums.....

If I'm following a topic, every time there's a reply to that topic, I get an email reminder.

So, if there are ten replies to a topic between the visits I make to it, then I get ten emails in my Inbox. This is totally unnecessary and not the practice on most forums I use.

When the first notification email of an update to a topic arrives in my Inbox, it should carry a reminder along the lines of......

"There may be other replies to this topic, but you won't get any more new post notifications until you visit the forum."

Maybe it's possible to have this as a preference. If so, apologies in advance.

Otherwise, room for improvement?

Finally, no idea which Forum this should be in.

Ps. I don't think that the Settings options cover what I'm suggesting above.

You just need to set your preferences to stop this happening - look under the tab "Manage" at the top of the page on the right. (I think that is where it is anyway).

Whenever you start or reply to a topic, just under the reply box, there's a check box which says:

Follow This Topic: Notify me about new replies to this topic

You simply need to make sure this is unchecked everytime (like I'm about to do with this one).

I am afraid that the feature what Dinarius is after is not available at the moment. Yes, it is possible to disable the notifications altogether but it is not possible to restrict them to one per topic (thread) i.e. only to the first reply.

Look on the bright side. Post a joke and get to read them all, including the deleted ones..

Easy....just click on the box that says follow this topic,problem solved

it would be good if Richard only logged on say once a month,then the jokes section would be able to take off.
