Prefab Sprout Crimson/Red

Posted by: Bruce Woodhouse on 12 October 2013

In an ever changing world this album is just what you want from Mr Macaloon. Everything intact; that unique voice, smart lyrics and gorgeous melodies. The rest of the band are actually absent but immaculate production means you'd never really know.

If after so long you may have been worried what he woul do, fear not, he still has it. Quality is ageless.

Download 'Billy' if you want to try one track and tell me you don't feel happier for hearing it.

Fingers crossed he still has more music in the locker.

You are spot on, Bruce. It is a new pop classic - and who would have dared think it after all these years?.

If you have the necessary kit, vinyl is the way to go on this one. Sounds great. As you say, brings a smile to your face.

Thanks for the tip off. I'm playing Andromeda Heights for the first time in ages, and will get Crimson/Red ordered asap.

I have this on Vinyl, on  order Bruce

The first time I saw Prefab Sprout was in London in the 80s as an unamed support for Elvis Costello it was either Hammersmith Odeon or Palais!

I bought this on vinyl and thoroughly agree. It is a great album. I have a couple of their older albums  and was not expecting this new one to be anywhere near as good as it is. Highly recommended for any Prefab Sprout fans.

Great album. I've been enjoying it since it arrived last week. A nice return to form.

Bought it on CD yesterday and a listened to it a few times already.

The gift of song writing has never really him, IMHO, though I'm not so keen on the mix on this one.

Still, a "must buy" for all Prefab Sprout fans.

Happy listening,

Vlad
