Selective encoding to MP3 from WAV on UnitiServe ?
Posted by: Jan-Erik Nordoen on 21 October 2013
Hi,
On Desktop client, I can see where to toggle MP3 encoding on or off for new rips, but I can't see where to encode previously ripped albums to MP3. I seem to recall that this is possible, but can't find the procedure.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

It was pretty easy for me to find in the OS X n-Serve app . . . if you get no answers before I get home in 6 hrs I'll answer then. My Windows laptop is here at work, and I can't get to the Tools menu in the DTC as it's not connected.
Thanks Bart. I see I'm not the only one occasionally distracted at work by the forum

Who me?? Moi???
Thank you Maurice, MP3 encoding now underway.
I note that apart from the "Add to MP3 library" option, a right-click on an album also brings up the "Encode to" and then the option of WAV or FLAC. Right clicking on an entire folder ( example, Genre, Artist, Recent, etc) will also bring up the "Encode to option". Bart, is this what you have been looking for to convert your WAVs to FLACs? This is presumably what CBR was referring to in your thread.
I'm afraid this option only converts the album to the selected format, but does not add an extra transcoded copy.

What I want is "add to flac library" -- which is a function that doesn't exist.
I'm pretty sure that Maurice is right -- "encode to" doesn't create a second version; it'd delete the .wav version
Confirmed... it's a conversion, not a copy to a new format.
Oh well, perhaps on the next version of nServe.
