Problems with iTunes in Maverick

Posted by: Andrew Porter on 23 October 2013

I upgraded Mountain Lion to Maverick this morning and now I am having problems playing anything in my iTunes Library.

To explain..when an album is selected in iTunes on my mac mini the play button will not work,it just goes to pause, but if I turn airplay on to another room, the play button works fine and music can be played via airplay but will not work in the main room (only in the other room). As soon as I deselect airplay, the play button stops working.

I have checked audio midi settings and it is configured to play correctly through the dac.

Anyone have any ideas,I'm sure it must be something simple that I have overlooked, but I can't think what?I have also tried restarting iTunes and the mini but no change!

Also, just tried plugging my mac book pro into the dac with same results!

Have you installed the new iTunes 11.1.2?  That's the version for Mavericks

Hi andrew,

You mention checking the audio midi settings.. What about the sound settings in system prefs ?.

also how is the mini connected to your hifi in the main room?

Hi Deeg, its connected via usb to Young dac. Tried connecting with a toslink cable and works fine. Have subsequently found out that the Young driver is not working with the new iTunes update! Have informed Young in Italy and agents in the UK who were unaware that there was a problem. They are now (hopefully) in the process of updating the driver!

Although working fine with toslink, I much prefer the sound via usb.
