iRadio disappeared

My SU refuses to connect to any Internet radio station tonight. My internet connection is working just fine for all other purposes. I've tried rebooting both SU and router, no joy. Is the problem here likely to be something in the SU, or that my ISP for some reason is failing to transmit radio this evening for reasons unknown? It's Virginmedia, btw. Help gratefully received.
If Naim have really said it is an internet problem and nothing to do with them I would be surprised but also very disappointed. Not the sort of backup we have come to expect from them!
I had 2 long emails which were friendly and concerned but basically denying it was their problem - I don't think it's fair to post them here in public but if they were signed by Pontius Pilate they would have been right in character!
Naim need to get their head around the concept that they are now not just selling boxes but also the services that make those boxes usable and that includes internet radio and Nstream. Applying some of their legendary quality control to those aspects would be more than welcome!

How about something on the Naim Twitter feed which updates known iradio issues?
I agree, if it is nothing to do with Naim, then Naim need to say who it is to do with and how one can contact them so there is some accountability. Surely you can't sell a product promoting a feature and capability and then let it fail to deliver washing your hands of it. I am not a specialist in such things but I think in the UK that is against the trades description regulations.

Hopefully a case of the missing 't Simon i.e. "you can't sell..." if so I agree that it seems slightly disingenuous to include references in the tech spec and features of a SuperUniti to "vTuner 5* full service" and then ignore the issue when there is an obvious problem. It may be a case of something akin to a swan swimming serenely along but under the surface there is a lot of activity. If that is this the case then we should be told. If not then they need to be reminded that it is not acceptable.
Can we get a reply from Naim please? I've had the unitiqute for 2 months now and this happening way to often. Iradio was on of the reasons I've dished out 1600 euro on this device and half the time it's not working... Getting really annoying...
I just received an e-mail from Steven Hopkins confirming that vTuner is working on the problem. However, no indication about the estimated length of the service break.
Arthur,
Iradio is always working. It is the vtuner service that is broken, affecting the Naim Choice selections. You can still access every station out there (apart from Radio Paradise 320k), you just have to locate it using your remote. A pain admittedly. Put your favourites into presets - sorted. If a better alternative to vTuner can be found Naim will probably look to change. Anyone actually know of one?
Forester,
You are getting the full service, the service happens to be broken, fully broken.
As previously stated vTuner is in millions of devices built by much larger companies than Naim. They cannot magic a fix, or indeed demand a quick resolution.
So for all those wanting to vent their frustration pop vTuner into Google and go to the contact us page. See how far you can get with updates on when the issue will be resolved. I'm sure it's frustrating but when are people going to wake up to the fact that 'The Internet' is not some sort of omnipotent being and that all problems are down to device manufacturers. Sorry, rant over
Andy
Andy, Naim has selected vTuner as their partner on this issue so they should be jointly accountable that the promised service does not have unacceptable long periods of unavailability. Linn apparently use TuneIn as their service provider (although I have no knowledge of their reliability) so there are other options available to be chosen if wanted/needed.
Of course we have a responsibility to solve this, we are communicating strongly regarding the service outage we have all experienced,we had thought/hoped according to vtuner that it was all fixed yesterday but ..... The bug occurred after a routine maintenance update at vtuner, I assure you all we are on it.
Thank you, Paul. The 'official' report has been a while coming but is welcome nonetheless. But whoever you've been 'communicating strongly' with, it hasn't been your customers!
Let's hope it's sorted soon.

Not so. I have plenty of stations stored on presets - eg BBC R3, Naim Radio, both at 320k - which cannot currently be found. No one has suggested a way of locating these hi res streams in the current circumstances.
I have Linn Jazz in my favourites and it works fine. But R4 hires is nowhere to be found. The vTuner service seems to be pants.
According to their website, vTuner use "a highly monitored and reliable database". Highly monitored by us, presumably?
Keith
It's now Monday and it's still not working. Highly monitored my ass.
hello all,
vTuner are based in New York so it'll be 3pm in the UK before i can call them. Rest assured that they are aware of the issue and i'm in touch with their CEO (and their tech support team) on the subject and chasing for resolution as you all expect.
Trevor
Thanks for the update, Trevor. You might want to duplicate your posting in the iRadio thread at the very top of the Streaming Audio forum - the readership has got split!
hi all
we've just received word from vTuner that the service should be back on line again. we will of course be monitoring the situation.
Trevor
Yup, all working fine now. Enjoying Naim Radio at 320k as I write...
Thank you NAIM: Radio 3 is back! Now I can enjoy my evening!
Confirmed, everything is working again. Thanks!
Arthur, who is Hiley, and why is she monitoring your ass?

I was quoting Keith. But you're just playing with me, right?
It did cross my mind that you were a finalist for 'Rear of the Year' , but I was just playing with you. Groovy avatar.
