Lou Reed R.I.P.

Posted by: FangfossFlyer on 27 October 2013

It has been reported that Lou Reed has died at the age of 71.

Sad news, a great influencer and will be sadly missed.

Thanks for the music and those times,

Richard

Wow! That's a shock!

Another great talent gone.

+1 with Steve. A major talent but not always easy to listen to!

Gosh. Nothing on the BBC website yet.

Walk on the Wild Side is one of my favourite songs.

God, Lou was such a part of my younger life - the Velvets, Transformer, Berlin, Street Hassle, R&R Animal, New York, etc.

Sad news, a real innovator.

Back in the late 1980s I interviewed him at the Columbia Hotel in London - he smoked all my Marlboro, cheeky git!

So sad , but the music remains. Not all of it I like , but Transformer is on my regular playlist.

Very sad. I had a fear about this after his liver transplant operation in May.

RIP Lou!

Now, that was a shock. Have always followed his career since I was a kid. Will be terribly missed.

Sad, sad news.

So sad - and it was another OMG moment - but the message that alerted me coincided with a text from O2 that said ARTPOP is coming - Lady Gaga I think. Not sure if I should laugh or perhaps just stop crying.

Very sad. Don't forget that he was married to Laurie Anderson, the great performance artist/composer/performer as well. Sympathy to her especially.

Playing transformer on vinyl to remember a great artist. Rip.

That's sad.

A big thank you to him. Time to dig it all out and play it.

I just read this thread.....as pointed out, nothing on the media.

Well speachless frankly, the best tribute is to listen to Lou Reed.

Good idea to listen to transformer on vinyl.

Not such a perfect day !

Posted on: 28 October 2013 by Cbr600

Just a perfect day
Drink sangria in the park
And then later, when it gets dark
We go home

Just a perfect day
Feed animals in the zoo
Then later a movie, too
And then home

Oh, it's such a perfect day
I'm glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You just keep me hanging on

Just a perfect day
Problems all left alone
Weekenders on our own
It's such fun

Just a perfect day
You made me forget myself
I thought I was someone else
Someone good

Oh, it's such a perfect day
I'm glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You just keep me hanging on

You're going to reap just what you sow
You're going to reap just what you sow
You're going to reap just what you sow
You're going to reap just what you sow

Years ago I asked permission to quote two lines of Street Hassle in an article I had written. Granted, free of charge. Don't try that with  Bob Dylan.

Played the wonderful-sounding VU album last night. This was a whole LP of unreleased tracks from about 1968 which Verve finally released in 1985 and sounds wonderful, great variety, humour, etc. Interesting that they could have released this stuff in 68 but put out the far more challenging 'White Light' LP instead.

Saw Lou twice in 72 before Bowie got his glammy mitts on him - rather charming, taken aback by the affection of the audience.
