BT.com email update

Posted by: Dungassin on 01 November 2013

Finally managed to sort out (well, almost) email via the 'new' portal at BT.com

As I said before, I had trouble accessing my email following the forced move from Yahoo Mail, eventually resorting to ringing their help desk.  The problem was that BT.com would no longer accept the password I had been using at Yahoo Mail, and the 'forgot password' link refused to accept my (correct - as confirmed by them!) security details.  They 'fixed' it and gave me a new email computer generated password.

However, I was unable to find out on the site how to change the password again to something more easily recalled, so I tried again the 'forgot password' link and again this refused my details!  Searched BT help for 'change email password'.  No joy, so contacted the help desk again and it turns out that you can change your email password if you click on your NAME on the email page, and this then shows a set of menus (hardly intuitive IMO - I had been trying clicking on the cogwheel icon next to NAME).

Real reason for this post?  Well, it appears that they are actually going to sort things so that we don't have to login every time we access email, and we'll have something like the 2 weeks between logins as we had on Yahoo Mail.

Ho hum ...

I hope the changes will allow us to see whether we have unread mail without having to log in, as before.
