Album Art DBPower

Posted by: NPD on 06 November 2013

Hello all, wonder if someone can help me... I'm using DBPower and ripping to a Synology DS212J NAS which streams to an NDX. The Synology is running the latest software release however I just can't seem to stream the album art to my iPad... Any ideas?

Sincere thanks in advance, Nigel

Hi NPD,

WAht kind of UpnP software is running on the Synology ? nStream of your iPad does nothing more than just collect data from UpnP. So if anything is missing or incorrect, the first thing to check is your UpnP software.

cheers,

Iver

Do you have the album art image file stored with the music files?

I do, it stores in the same folder as the album music under the file construction. If that makes sense!

There seem to be a few posts around the 'net about album art issues on Synology NAS. One from this forum a few months ago suggests:

To get this to work properly for me I had to do the following:

1. Close all apps on ipad/iphone

2. Launch nstream on the ipad/iphone device and connect to media server

3. Now goto diskstation manager and in Media Server device list hit the reset button to clear everything and then refresh. It should find both the Naim streamer and the ipad/iphone.

4. Change the profile on both to "Naim n-Stream" and select 'Save'

5. Go back to the iPad/iPhone and clear both the upnp and image caches.

6. Relaunch nstream and the new image cache should be built with the original cover and the settings should stick

I found that if there were other apps on the iPad at first it didn't seem to work properly (I guess it wasn't seeing it as a 'n-stream' device).

Log into your Synology NAS and click on "Media Server" and then on "Browsing Settings."

Make sure that the filenames in the section under "Set images with the below filenames as music/video cover"  includes the filename of your artwork --  like folder.jpg, etc.
