Question relating to ripping on the Unitiserve

Posted by: Richard Choong on 18 November 2013

Hi gurus!

The Unitiserve can be set to rip CDs to both WAV and 128kps at the same time. Is there a way to change that so that CDs are ripped to both WAV and 320kps instead of 128kps?

Yes, through DeskTop client.

(at work ATM, so can't give you the full procedure)

And through n-Serve for OS X.  I'm also at work, but where you see 128kbps in the DTC or n-Serve, you may also see two small arrows -- those are used to select different options.  I set mine to 320kbps mp3 as well for when I want mp3's for my iTunes library.

Indeed -- this is a healthier break than smoking in the car park (the only spot it's permitted on site).

hard work on the job...

For me, it is part of my job to read the forum...

Richard,

On Desktop Client: Tools, System and Functions, System Settings, Ripping\encoding, set it to 320.

But remember, you have been there, cause the mp3 encoding is not set by default, you have asked for that....

Thanks all...now the only question is how to do convert all of those previously ripped CDs that were ripped to 128kps into 320kps?

Hi Richard,

Re-encode them in DTC, by right clicking on the albums you want encoded. This will bring up the "Add to MP3 library" option. Select the ones you want. Encoding will take a while ( a  v e r y  long while) because this is a low priority task ...

Be patient

I want to change lead to gold, but, similarly, it's impossible.  Those bits are long gone . . . flying around your room . . . you can't squeeze them back onto the hard drive.  Must re-rip (unless you ripped to both lossless and mp3, in which case you can delete the 128kbps mp3's and do another conversion at the higher bitrate).

Sigh...I guessed as much...anyways...it's underway. Deleted all the 128kbps and it's now encoding at 320 kbps.
