UNITISERVE not recognizing CD

Posted by: Giorgiott on 18 November 2013

Hello,

I own a UNITISERVE that connects to a UNITI2 by fiber link.

Both are new: I've received them 2 weeks ago.

I'm in the process of ripping all my CDs to the UNITISERVE anyhow I'm bumping into some weird behaviour from the UNITISERVE. From time to time it does not recognize the inserted CD actually it interprets it as a DATA CD and ejects it, after this the only way to restart the ripping process is to switch it off/on again.

Looks like when it assume it is a data Cd, then sfw remains in an undefined state so the only way forward is a power cycle. I'm running v 1.6d on the server. I've been unable to identify the root cause of the issue... sometimes it happens after successfully ripping 10 or 15 CDs, other after just 2 or 3.

Anyone seeing the same?

BTW I've seen NAIM has posted v.1.7a for the UNITISERVE, but the file I've downloaded is for the HDX

It's also for the UnitiServe.

Giorgiott,

Some CD with data+Music are more difficult to read. If your Serve reads most of your disks with no issues, copy the (hopefully few) problematic ones on CDR and retry them.

It is a good idea to keep your units up-to-date. Both should be updated now (1,7a for US and 3.22 for Uniti2). Jan-Eric is right, what goes for HDX (software & documentation), also works for UnitiServe.

You are missing 2 things by connecting your 2 units by fiber link. You should talk to your dealer and go UPnP: it sounds better and brings a whole new experience with the Rovi's info.
