Bravo for new "classical" music - what's your favorite?

Nice piece from the New Yorker on the collapse of some large orchestras and opera companies, in contrast to the vibrant life of new classical music: http://www.newyorker.com/arts/...31125crmu_music_ross
So, what's your favorite "new" classical music? Let's define it as music for (mostly) classical instruments composed in the last 10 years.
Great to see Hilary Hahn and DG get behind new composers:
This year's Gramophone awards spotlighted another young violinist, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, who is making a name for herself in new(ish) classical music. So far not including music from this millennium, but Ligeti, Bartok, Stravinsky and Prokofiev still aren't mainstream and well worth hearing, especially in her fiery intense performances.
Cheers,
EJ
Many thanks! I let my Gramophone subscription lapse. Will check that out. I'm a fan of Ligeti.

These are performances, not compositions, from the last 10 years??
My vote is for Written on Skin, an opera by the British composer George Benjamin. It was premiered at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in 2012. The music is excellent IMHO.
Wandelweiser und so weiter
A 6-CD box set showcasing the music of the composers in the Wandelweiser collective.
This is an excellent introduction to contemporary composed and improvised music now. Published by UK label Another Timbre (Sheffield). The first batch went on quickly and the box has now been reissued.
Jakob Ullmann – Fremde Zeit - Addendum (Edition RZ)
(Notes from Dusted) Jakob Ullmann’s music exists just at the threshold of audibility. I mean this quite literally; this is some of the quietest music I’ve ever heard. This three-disc compendium comprises music written between 1989 and 2007, and the composer’s unity of purpose, in tandem with a strikingly diverse timbral palette, is astonishing
Osvaldo Coluccino - Voce d'Orlo
Coluccino is based in the north of Italy. His music is mysterious, quiet and magical, defining sound objects in silence, in which the movement of everyday life is suspended. Check him out on several pieces on YouTube.

Labels such as Edition RZ, Neos, Col Legno, Kairos, Naive and a lot others offer extensive works of contemporary artists.
As an introduction to contemporary music, I would recommend tracking down any Hat Hut 6100 to 6300 release from the 80's and 90's. Probably the best documentation of contemporary music (on CD only) from John Cage, Morton Feldman, Christian Wolff, Polwechsel, Cornelius Cardew, Stockhausen etc. Impeccable SQ too for the hifi conscious.
Most compositions by Arvo Pärt a great.
I'm not really into contemporary music.
Most compositions by Arvo Pärt a great.
+1
And I don't mind new takes on "old" classical music so will definitely give some of these a try as well.
Thanks,
Arun
