Help please! Unitilite firmware updater quit

Sorry, panicked a bit there. Tried a 3rd time and all went well. I know very little about IT - just enough to know that an interrupted firmware update is generally bad news.

Naim seem to have done a nice job with this -- a package that actually if interrupted has a very good chance of not bricking the device.  That said, do your best to avoid an interruption; do what they say and turn off power management.

Hi Bart, yes, I think it failed the first time because the Mac went to sleep. Have no idea why it failed the second time - very relieved that it went perfectly at the third attempt. Thanks for your reply.

You lucky sod. I did it from 3.17 and when it failed at 16% I contacted my supplier, Naim support and this forum. All that was left for me was to return it for a 7 weeks upgrade (which included 1 week for the Drench test). It's all int he past now. I will think twice about the next upgrade 

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I was dreading a 'return to dealer' situation. We brought our Unitilite with us when we moved to Oz last year. Our original dealer is now 10,000 miles away, the nearest Oz dealer is a six hour drive. Glad your kit us okay now.

I have a superuniti working well with nstream no problems on ver 3.17. Should I upgrade? What are the advantages Benefits? I am apprehensive about doing the upgrade after reading of so many problems and difficulties on the forums

Hi Kassos, given my track record, I'm probably not the best person to ask!

As I understand it, the latest upgrade fixed a bug with gapless playback. The upgrade hasn't made any difference at all to my listening pleasure - I am still enthraled with my new Uniti based system. The truth is I just like the idea of having everything right up to date. If you follow the Naim instructions to the letter then you will probably have no problems at all.  You should probably post a new thread of your own to attract the right kind of expert advice.
