HDTracks closed for business outside USA ?

Yes, happened to me trying to buy  Miles Davis Kind of blue Last weekenD. No more HD albums for those of us OS of US of A.  Alternately we could just steal them of one of those torrent thingys - good one record companies. Losers.

Funny thing happened.  There is a vinyl series on our local radio / internet this month.

I listened to a pod cast on the site and was inspired to impulse buy a second hand Rega P5 with Ortofon 2m bronze. You know what.  My Kate Bush Hounds of Love and Sarah Blasko Vinyl in my second system sounds BETTER, ie more engaging, than the CD rip  through my Naim nDAC with XPS2 at ten times the price of the s/h Rega.  

If I feel inspired to buy a HD download, I'm just gonna get it on vinyl.  I might even grab a ADC like the Apogee Duet and digitise it myself. And I get a hard copy for backup.

No HD Tracks.  Don't know that I care, their selection was rubbish anyway.

Not sure where you guys live but I live in the UK and I purchased the Miles Davis album from HD tracks a couple of weeks ago. I even paid with a credit card registered in the UK?

Normally HD tracks will warn you that that particular album/track is not avaliable in your country.

I live in Germany and could buy without any problems Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, both: Stereo and Mono from HDtracks. However there are albums that are not available for all countries, for example Paul Simon's Graceland.

I put in a fake US address and used a Candadian CC. No problems.

Hi just downloaded one then, I had to put in a new address. I had been using the motel we stayed earlier this year (it was the only way it allowed me to access them) but this time put in my Aussie address and bang no problems. I am using PayPal thou.

 Have you been having any trouble with sibilance on your vinyl?

Not as an inherent character of my turntable and cartridge, no.  My P5 is in my big system now.  It was not originally planned that way.

My NAD amp had long suffered from a intermittent problem with the right channel so it went in for a service.  It's still there. I moved to my Denon receiver as back up but it was like listening to CD. Sibilance was not a feature of either system, although occasionally it was noticeable on the Denon.  That NAD was just fun to listen to, but even then it was record dependent.

The little P5 now runs through a Zesto Audio Andros PS1, so it's tubes from phono to pre and then to amps. That being said, this is a modern tube sound. The P5 is currently my preferred source for every duplicate recording I have, including vinyl rips from a system with a top cartridge.  That being said, there is nothing wrong with the digital, both formats sound excellent.  Neither remotely suffers from sibilance.

Back to HD Tracks.  I will certainly try entering my Australian address at the HD tracks website based on the advice above.  I am finding more music that is to my taste on vinyl at the moment, but it's nice having a choice.
