Go for the 555ps. It will work well. There is no point buying an XPS2 and then selling it - you will lose money.

I have not heard 555PS on NDX. I have heard 555PS on DAC and HDX, in both cases compared to XPS2. It's quite a jump. And if you are on a stepping stone towards NDS/555PS the XPX2 as expensive cul de sac. 

In the final analysis your ears should be the judge.

Congratulations on your 252 (I don't think I told you yet) !

Your profile doesn't say what cables you use, but don't dismiss Power-Lines (and a Hi-Line, obviously) if you don't use them yet. Not a source upgrade, but at this level they make quite a difference IME. And a good support like the Fraim.

Otherwise, as others have already stated, I guess 555PS DR is the way to go if your aim is the NDS. Or -- but you say it is difficult for you to audition -- a Klimax DS.

As Matteo Said I have read many different ideas about NDX+555PS and this is the first reasons why i asked.

My first option (get now an XPS2) does not have a lot of sense but I was trying to understand if the NDX works better with a n XPS2 or a 555.

So the final question is

Would you get the 555 now to use with the NDX or would you wait until I can get an NDS+555?

The NDX with The 555 will sound better then the bear NDX or not?

That's going to depend of the ear of the beholder.

Based on my personal experience I would be seeking a 555PS, but it would be a dealer or home audition and I would have an opportunity to assess the XPS2 also. What I end up with would depend on my ears. Experience to date points me to the 555PS but you should never say never until you've heard it yourself.

When I tried the 555PS at home with DAC and HDX I wasn't particularly impressed at first. The sound seemed comparatively thin and a bit forward. It was only after the 555PS went back that I heard the justification. I haven't been there with an NDX though.

I am relatively new to the world of High end equipment so I hardly understand how ever is possible to spend so much money on cables!

But now I know that this is due to my ignorance  and am starting to think that they make sense!

Till now I use standard power cables and standard interconnect.

And both will serve you well. If you want to seek further musical enjoyment you have options. Some will work, some may not. But they're just options. It's not like your stuff will sound crap without them.

I can confirm that the 555PS on an HDX is an appreciable upgrade in terms of scale, timbre & separation.
