SU - MUTE/UNMUTED

Posted by: nick2413 on 19 December 2013

So I've just picked up my SU, everything was fine for 20 mins now it randomly just 'mutes' then 'unmuted' making the device unusable! This is regardless if any music is playing or not. Any thoughts?

Much appreciated

Yikes! Have you got any other remote controls doing things? Have you turned it off and on again? Try that and if it doesn't fix it, call your dealer in the morning. Fingers crossed......

Nope, I haven't even got around to using a remote yet.  It mutes then unmutes every 2-3 seconds, no remotes connected, nothing connected to the SU. Tried turning off an on again, same problem. Is there a reset function?

Many thanks,

Nick

Panic over (for now) found the system reset, buried in a sea of folders!

Famous last words! After another 45 mins of faultless playing, its started randomly muting and then unmuting again... If anyone has any thoughts, they'd be very much appreciated, otherwise back to the dealer it goes...

Nick,

Can be a faulty connection to the logo button. Go into settings (spanner on the remote) and then ' front display' and switch off the mute function for the logo. If that works I believe its a simple fix by dealer.

Andy, thank you, that appears to have done the trick.  Will give the dealer a call in the morning, in the meanwhile I can enjoy some tunes before bed

I'm glad that's at least fixed it for now. I was scouring the manual to see if it was some sort of fault condition but couldn't see anything helpful. Hopefully it's an easy thing to resolve properly. The SuperUniti is really excellent, and it's so frustrating when things go wrong.

Yep, I went from wow to WOW to dispair! Really appreciate both of your input, I wish more forums were as helpful and friendly as this one.

Nick, did your dealer manage to sort this out for you?

Hey. I called them yesterday, they were very apologetic and asked me to send the SU serial number so that they can get it booked in at Naim. Unfortunately I'm away this weekend so this isn't likely to happen until after Xmas/NY.  Should I ask for a complete replacement considering the fault occurred straight out of the box? I can confirm though that so far, the fix of disabling the Naim touch sensitive mute sensor has worked. Strange feature for them to add...

I would ask for a replacement. That way your dealer can bring you the new one and take away the old one at the same time. If it goes to Naim it will be away for a couple of weeks at least.

You could always say that you will accept a fix in exchange for a free Powerline - worth a try.
