Manufacturers Warranty (Not naim)

Posted by: GraemeH on 27 December 2013

Six months ago we bought a dishwasher from a chain (think Indian food) which came with a statutory 1 year manufacturers warranty.

The machine developed faults meaning buttons became unresponsive and the washer blades did not turn.

Said chain have an agreement with the manufacturer whereby it is their services engineers whom you contact to fix the problem. He has been twice now and is due a third visit on Monday as the problem is not yet fixed (no dishwasher over Christmas - 7 at dinner so not hugely convenient).

If the problem is not resolved after Monday's visit does anyone know what my legal position is with the vendor in seeking a suitable replacement machine?

I have looked at all the consumer websites but remain unclear - can the manufacturer simply keep 'repairing' the machine ad infinitum until the warranty runs out?

Thanks to anyone in the know,

i should think the small claims court would view the various failed attempts at a repair as sufficient evidence that the machine really was  a duffer from the start.....assuming the store manager isn't too helpful.

100% with Don on this one. If any large firm frigged me around, its C/C for me no hesitation.

Only down side at the moment is the Courts are up to their eyes in work and getting a court date can be months away. From past forays i have found most firms pay up a few days before it goes into court.

They caved in at last and I only had to lose the plot once. The store is bypassing the manufacturer and offering us a new machine of any brand.

Bosch I think this time. Not bosh.

Thanks for all the contributions.

Good to hear. It took long enough though.

Good result in the end. Time to relax and enjoy choosing a better bet eg as you suggest - Bosch.

Bought a Bosch Black Edition washing machine (2year warranty) from J. Lewis 2 years ago.

I was fed up of chasing the Hotpoint around the kitchen.

So far so good
