Noisy neighbours what me, i only use naim gear thats not noise thats quality sound mate !
Has any of your neighbours or family complained too much noise ,
Not recently. When I lived in Bristol (in a converted Victorian townhouse), The woman upstairs complained once . Admittedly it was quite loud, OK. But in my defence it was Radiohead, so why would she not just chill? She was good about it, though. I offered her a glass of wine. Interestingly, the people (older couple) in the basement flat never complained. Maybe they liked Radiohead. Or turned off their hearing aids.
Living in a modern apartment in downtown Vancouver I never had complaints, but they're well built and all solid and concretey.
Otherwise I have mostly lived in free-standing dwellings. No worries, mate.
nope never , used to have my own music room at old house. new house the neighbours are more worried about us hearing their two year old daughter. So happy days turn it up louder.
when i lived in a flat above a shop as a temp acc, the next door went insane nearly smashing the door down saying you got a band inside ,i said thanks for that i must have the naim system set up well then!
i always ask people to text me , if its getting on the nerves! because i cant ear the phone call because of the good quality sound.
My neighbour's wife texts my wife - as it is more effective than texting me
After a good saturday night session with music and wine, I check where the volume has ended up the next day when I get up....first reaction is norfolking way...they never complain...
Fortunately, in the UK we live in a detached property at least 100 feet away from our nearest neighbour so neither their noise, nor that of our other neighbours spoils our listening pleasures at all.
Similar situation in Canada where the neighbours are at least 100 feet away and the only sounds we sometimes hear is the "ping" of a golf club on the 2nd tee and the occasional "smashed glass" as the ball shatters a neighbour's window. Very confusing when listening to Billy Joel..................
I now live in a mews connected at every side using 135s and spender a9s and I like to recreate the real thing ,keep rockin
Well, I'm very pleased you are not my neighbour, as you seem to show no consideration whatsoever.
Sorry my neighbours are the best they just text me ,we all get on well I feed there cats when there on holiday ,they all love the naim sound it's saves them money !
Fortunately we are detached with decent double glazing which allows for a degree of flexability but I have always made a point of testing what can be heard outside as to not annoy the neighbours.
I never listen at any volume with the Windows open, so in summer I either listen quietly or get hot!
Richard
Well. The cat runs for the door, and that's about it.
We have papillons dogs very large ears they sit next to me listening looking right and left as the music changes .
Detached. No problem.
Yep,SWMBO keeps telling me to keep the noise down as its bad for the cats ears. Most of my listening now is done with the volume knob @ 8 o`clock.Any louder and she just turns the volume down without even asking me.

What do you mean by "cats ears"?
The cat's ears are the cat's whiskers.
Noisy neighbours! What? Me? I only use naim gear; that's not noise, that's quality sound mate !
Have any of your neighbours or family complained of too much noise ,
I think since about the age of five my family and neighbours have been complaining about me. I only ever had complaints over loud music when I was listening to some banging techno after 11:00 pm, then I discovered the joy of Sennheiser headphones, problem solved.
You watch that tinnitus Char!

But seriously. "Cats ears" doesn't mean the actual ears of an actual feline-type cat, does it? That just wouldn't make any sense.
From 2007 to 2011 I lived detached, so no problems.
Then I was 2 years in a really crummy apartment (was supposed to be a 6 month thing, but you know that thing about "best laid plans" - I didn't even use my good Naim gear, just my NAD & my Kefs, and only even then turned it up when I knew the upstairs neighbor was gone. Worse, I could not ever really play any electric guitar for the 2 years.
Now I am living detached again since April of this year, and can be as noisy as I care to be!
Chaps,
Humour me.
Earlier this evening I was at a friends house, relaxing and listening to music on a non Naim system...all good. The conversation went along its trajectory until it got to 'music' volume. It so happened that a lady in the company is a member of a society that wanted to ban noise above a certain db in urban areas. Particularly, on her and her friends agenda was 'loud' music.
Okay, I sided with the, "the problem is people are unable to play their music at their desired level" which normally means higher than acceptable. Take me, for example, my position was that I rarely felt in a position to play my music at the levels that I felt would give me that...certain satisfaction.
Anyway, the discussion developed to an alarming level where this lady was saying that "death" was a definite possibility for the very young and the very old. This was related to the resonance of the bass interfering with the rhythm of the heart....right, I said humour me.
I really don't know the science but I am willing to accept the potential problem....perhaps Marsden has some ideas?
I know that there is a growing "anti noise polluting" movement, as there is an "anti light polluting" movement in urban areas. But what I would seriously like to know, without coming across as naive, is how serious is loud noise to the young and old...ignoring ear problems?
Jason.
