Odd MP3 UnitiServe issues

Posted by: Dan43 on 30 December 2013

I have the US/DAC-V1/NAP100/PMC-DB1 combo (although NDS may be calling)

Loaded up the new US software 1.7a via CD, all is well except the MP3s. All MP3s are being written to the LQ folder but some just won't sync into iTunes (for my cars iPhone/music) I would say about 5-7 albums out of 300 haven't copied across although the MP3s have been created and are in my LQ folder, any ideas?

Also 1 album has been tagged by another artist. It is correct in the US library and comes up with correct artwork/songs in the n-serve iPad software but in iTunes shows as a David Bowie album with his artwork and song titles but the songs playing back are from the original Heavy Rock album? again any ideas?

Sounds like an iTunes issue to me.  I've done the same to (re)build my iTunes library -- have the uServe make mp3 copies of what I want in that library.  iTunes didn't want to absorb everything the first time, but with a few tries it was all there.  And I had to adjust a few bits of album artwork as well.  Your numbers are the same as I recall -- maybe 1 or 2 per 100 albums.  One thing that may have helped was copying the folders over to my mac's hard drive, and importing from there vs. pointing iTunes at the LQ folder itself.

I chalked it up to iTunes, as I never found anything 'wrong' with the mp3's or their tags themselves.

Thanks Bart,

That makes sense, I will give iTune a few refreshes. I did copy the albums over to my Mac HD also but they just won't import, but as you say perhaps it just needs a few goes.

Agree all my rips to WAV and MP3s inside the US seem intact.

Researching the NDS now :-)

Dan I love my NDS.  End of research ;-)

What would you use as a preamp? NDS pairs well with the Supernait2.  "Just sayin'" as my daughter would say.

PS If there IS something odd about the mp3's made by the uServe, I've not figured it out.  But I've had mp3's from other sources not want to go into iTunes right off, so I've assumed it's not a Naim issue.

Yes the NDS sounded great on demo, I need a re-visit, although it is interesting to see others preferring the nDAC/555PS combo for the more analogue sound produced.

And the pre-amp, which was suggested on the other thread by Adrian. This I didn't consider as the V1 is that also.

So it looks like an upgrade to NDS would loose the V1/NAP100, or I put the Supernait2 in the middle?

I know NAIM have all these options, but I kind of like finding out what works best for the individual, an audio journey via the kit as such.

Thanks
