This later set with Lenny is much livelier than Munch/BSO above.

From the first note, the music has a sense of mystery and tension. Ludwig's voice is fragile yet strong and so much more expressive than Farrell's Girl Scout version above. Klemperer's direction is as usual classy and dynamic. Excellent use of timing and placement of notes against the soprano melody line. At times he's on his own timing differs from the voice yet it creates better interests and harmonic colors.

The landmark album from Mingus' formative period and some of the freshest, most exciting jazz ever recorded. The 1956 Atlantic release features four lengthy cuts including the ambitious title tune, "A Foggy Day", "Profile of Jackie", and "Love Chant". Superb contributions from alto saxophonist Jackie McLean, tenor saxophonist J.R. Monterose, pianist Mal Waldron, and several others. Raucous, thunderous, pathbreaking music.

Nice, still a great go to album never tires for me, have you heard the DVD dual disc version which oddly has a 16bit at 48khz version on the reverse? How much extra determinable quality is there from 44.1khz to 48khz I know not, but it is there regardless.

Led Zeppelin  "The Song Remains The Same"  a double cd, from the band playing live somewhere during the '70's, I bought this a while back.

Kevin,

For some reason this recording never worked for me despite its juicy title.

Haim

I know what you mean Haim. I think the opening rack "Chameleon" is superb but a lot of the other stuff goes on too long and lacks focus. And as Cleveland once said in Family Guy, "they phoned in a lot of the funk".

This, which I'm listening to now on CD, is better, I think. And very funky:

Track 1st press vinyl.

New EP from an outfit featuring two former Cannites and a Can associate (and Irmin's son in law). A lot of the old Can magic is there, albeit with reduced intensity, and Liebezeit's drumming is amazing - he doesn't use cymbals, hi-hat or snare. On vinyl:

It is Kevin. I don't recall why it was withdrawn. Only Bob Dylan alive today.
