I think it is one of the few things we nearly all agree about, the superiority of the 2009 remasters.

I have even even decided not to rip the 1998 masters even though I have 4  versions of DSOTM ripped, 3 versions of a lot of Rory Gallagher's albums and 2 of most of Van's as there are the odd track that sounds better on some of the masters, but for the Betales, no contest.

thanks Sloop , i will add them to my ever increasing wish list,  I am always a bit sceptical with remasters as to whether there is any real improvement or significant difference other than a marketing ploy for the collecter. That said the Smiths recent remasters are worth every penny .

Just dusted down Another Green World by Eno. I'd forgotten how good an album this is. Phil Collins on drums, as well; yes, he did have his uses before he began to appear on TOTP, wailing about lot love, with a pot of paint perched on top of his piano!

Ripped to FLAC and played on my recently acquired SuperUniti. It's the future!

De Grassi, Alex - Southern Exposure

Format: Vinyl

Ok so this isn't exactly a Decca but found a London pressing and this isn't bad. I was thinking getting the Speakers Corner reissue but it sounds good enough.

I am mighty impressed with Crespin clarity and sweet lyrical voice. She doesn't lose a composure at a low register or at the extreme dip coming off from the highs.

My first exposure to Roussel's work.

Copland meets Rachmaninoff and a dash of Gershwin jazz thrown in.

Lots of different colours and the cover at Dega's sketches is perfect for it. Interesting stuff.

That is an understatement. Anything that Isabelle Faust plays is well worth listening to. The three other Bs - Bach, Bartok and Brahms; the Beethoven/Berg concertos and Martinu. I had the pleasure of meeting her after a concert, she was friendly and charming. The excellent Beethoven disc pictured is playing as I type.

Original Quadraphonic vinyl. Sounds awesome on my humble 2 channel system.

Just heard the track A Hard Way To Go by Savoy Brown on Radio Paradise, is this typical of their out (SB that is not RP).

Another group that I have completely missed over the years.

Savoy Brown are excellent.  Have a trawl through youtube to get an idea of the style.

Classic 1960s/1970s British blues with a rocky edge. The line-up changed a lot over the years. I can recommend Street Corner Talking as a good place to start.
