Testing the ND5XS:NDAC/555PS with some familiar recordings.  The aural memory is quite a strong one in terms of hearing recordings anew.

'Seven Bridges Road' - great for sorting the separate vocal harmonies.

Decca 1st press mono. This is definitely a different mix to the stereo version.

Paul's first solo LP, could have been his "low" there are so many instrumentals.

Steve which do you prefer.I've got my eye on a mono copy at the moment but the price is getting a bit high.

They're both good. If I were you I'd go for a boxed Decca 2nd issue which are all stereo. SQ is still excellent and you'll get it for much less than a 1st press. Enough to buy something else.

Steve have you any experience with German Decca pressings these seem to go for even less.

Yes, I've had a few. I do find it hard to tell which pressings they are but they are generally of good SQ.

I'm a big fan of this one. It's all Paul. There is so much raw energy and exuberance, and I esp love the way McCartney plays lead guitar on it. He recorded it at home with a single mic on a Studer four-track without a mixer or use of VU meters. Really quite an accomplishment.

Haim,

His Carnegie Debut Live CD is pretty good.

But hard to imagine you like his style tho. But every one of the piece in that CD is just about breath taking.

I also have his Mozart Piano Concerto No.20 ( Pletnev as a conductor ) and love it but if you like Uchida school of Mozart, you'd hate it.

I think he's very talented and one of the best in the trade but having been linked with a 14 year old boy rape case gives me a pause a bit in spite his enormous talent.

Kuma and Doug,

Thanks for the recommendations and the warning.
