Haven't played this in years. A browse in the CD rack and I thought hmm...why not? Still got the  energy I remember.

I remember that years ago I managed to record this from the radio, in a much better sonic than this youtube film. I eventually converted the TDK SA 90 tape to CD and this is now safely in iTunes, and gets a regular airing here! [While correcting this, I have just looked it op to play again in a few seconds!].

George,

Indeed that I was surprised to hear Sibelius was an excellent conductor! That particular performance gets to me, too.

It is a pity that he did not record more often. I also have read about his relationship with Kajanus at one point they had a fall out but later reconciled.

P.S. I am pleased that you are contributing again. The room needs more folks who are knowledgeable in classical music so that I can learn! I owe you a big thanks for insisting on Klemperer's music making for instance!

Can't decide between this and Good Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise as my favourite Ray Lamontagne album

Ok, I know its a Blu-Ray DVD, but I do enjoy the music along with the visuals, even though my CD version sounds more musically enjoyable

Always had a soft-spot to Suzanne V. The Tom's Diner track on this album is both usual and delightful.

Hi Haim,

Is my first listen, sounds ok'ish - but had expected more excitement. I like the solo album better so far, perhaps is starts to change with more spins...

Cheers,

Bert
