A Real Mother For Ya is ace as well (check out this great Soul Train clip from the 1970s): here

I have been playing this album all week off and on. It is a beautifully produced, recorded, and pressed piece of AAA vinyl. However, I find the music and choice of songs slightly boring, just get the impression that it could have been made a tad more exciting.

Pete, I should add that this German concert from '77 is well worth watching all the way through. But especially check out the guitar playing from about 5:30 to about 10:00. It is AWESOME.

Thanks again. I'll check it out . 'A Real Mother For You' is on my album as well as 4 tracks from 'Aint That A Bitch' so I'm maybe covered? I'll try and post the sleeve later. I think Robert Elms from BBC London must have been walking past my house as he was playing 'Johnny' this afternoon. Fantastic timeless music .

Pete, both the ARMFY and ATAB are both packed full of badass funky goodness and are utterly essential in my view.

Well i suppose you can't have too much of a good thing and you can get both albums on one cd . It'll be here next week  .

Hi Steve,

The A5/B5 matrix is not an indicator of a first press. The very first pressings have the Peter Grant credit on the label and 2401002 on the label. The 'second press' also has the same A5/B5 matrix but no Peter Grant credit and the catalogue number is hyphenated 2401-002. Now I think they were both pressed from the same mothers as the matrices are exactly the same. I have both, and I personally bought the album the week it was released. Guess what? This LP is supposed to be a second press. I think the only difference is the labels. There is no difference in SQ.

So called 1st press.

So called 2nd press.

Enjoy whichever copy you have. If you have the Peter Grant version it's worth a few bob.

Steve it's the Peter Grant copy. I never really liked this Zep album until I listened to it on this pressing. It now probably gets played more than any other Zep album.

It's one of my favourites, especially 'Since I've Been Loving You'.

Bang on description Steve. Also there are  AC's quotes on either side of the deadwax "Do What Thou Wilt /  So Mote It Be". And as you said, no difference of SQ on either pressings.

I did have a A5/B6 which was the still on the plum but was just on the change over to the orange/green label.Side 1 SQ was good,Side 2 bloody awful.

I swapped my first press Vertigo swirl Juicy Lucy album for the A1/B1 Zep I & the Zep 111.

I must be weird Steve, because I LOVE Led Zep (my favourite band), and I love LZIII, but SIBLY is one of those songs I just can't get on with. I think it manages the dubious trick of sounding overwrought and dull simultaneously!

Thanks Tony. I was bemused when I first came across the Peter Grant label as I literally bought my supposed second press copy within days of it's release in Plymouth for my 14th birthday.

My father had a similar experience with the Beatles 'Please Please Me'. He bought it on the day of release but it was a Yellow/Black Parlephone and not the Gold.

You got a real bargain there if they're in good nick Steve. Don't you like Juicy Lucy? Their first two LPs are great. 'Get A Whiff of This' is so so.

Awesome record Denis. And Eska sings on it, like a bird.

Hope you are well. Stay cool mate.

Steve I do like JL but it was too good an opportunity to pass on.Both the Zep albums are in excellent condition. The JL album was near mint and only cost me £3 in a charity shop.
