Broken Bells "After The Disco" (iTunes download)

Played this earlier, original vinyl copy from the days of my youth! I saw Siouxsie and the Banshees in Bristol, but never really got into them at the time, so I'm surprised how enjoyable I found it just now. So much so, in fact, I've just ordered a couple of their CDs.
My favorite is Superstition. Hope it got on your order ![]()
No, I hadn't even heard of that one. I simply chose the 'Best of...' (to capture both Siouxsie's version of 'Dear Prudence', which I don't recall hearing before, and 'This Wheel's on Fire') plus the live album, 'Nocturne', figuring that the band was always best live and loose. I'll see how I live with those before exploring further. I was a confirmed progressive and jazz-rock fusion fan and couldn't really relate to the new wave stuff. It's coming as a bit of a surprise to me now!
Clive, as well as the two mentioned, I would also suggest two of their early albums, their third, and most eclectic, Kaleidoscope (1980); and their fourth, JuJu (1981), which as well as featuring some of the group's best songs - Spellbound, Arabian Knights, Monitor, Headcut - has the extraordinary guitar playing of John McGeogh. I think it's their best album overall.

Thanks for the recommendations, Kevin. I had read reviews on Amazon before ordering and you're right, both those albums received praise. I forgot to look on AMG. I also listened to a few tracks on Youtube and was getting overwhelmed by all the choice. Hence, in the end the 'Best of...' made sense. I'll see how I get on with that and Nocturne before exploring further. I don't want to become a latter day punk!!

Kings Of Convenience "Declaration Of Dependence"
(iTunes download)

A wonderful vibrato and a clean scat of lovely tunes - all served by the most subtle arrangement on bass and brush. A pure gem.
Superb portrait in 24/192 from HDtracks. ![]()

Stevie Nicks "Crystal Visions, The Very Best of ........."

Alice In Chains "MTV Unplugged" (cd rip to iTunes)

Disc 1

also this is a forum find to.........

someone have a coughing fit from too much weed i think...intimate recording at its best
Quite liking this recent (for me) find.
Pacifica String Quartet
The Soviet Experience Volume 3: String Quartets by Dmitri Shostakovich and his contemporaries
Cover art is a 1969 Nikolai Petrovich Charuhin propaganda poster entitled, "Building the Foundation of a New industry!"
Magnificent recording quality from Cedille Records which is part of the not-for-profit organization The Chicago Classical Recording Foundation. As others have said, it goes to show that money and new formats have nothing over good old fashioned quality as the basis. How many recording engineers just do not have a clue or good taste and spoil so many good recordings?

Positively meditative.

Doug, I will join you with a pristine Cedile sound:
