In light of my post on recordings of live rock concerts, I thought I'd give this a go.  It's not bad. And it cost less than £3.

Steve, Imo it's who getting the vinyl. I also bought the CD for my partner but enjoy the acid samba jazz with a nice glass of wine, but know what you mean about coffee shop music. It will sound good on your fantastic new plinth TT. By the way has 'you know who' left the other place altogether?

ATB Graham.

If you like "The Dance" and want a superb live recording then try this.

This is a library copy so the vinyl had better days.

As his later Bruckner pieces, Skrowaczinski is skillful at building a big structure as well as without missing the inner details. Not as intense as Cantelli nor pacy as Klemperer set, yet his meticulous attention to dynamic contrasts and timing keeps the tune going without wondering around. ( which is easy to do with Schubert tunes )

I tend to prefer a conductor who gives me some frame of structure of any given tune.

Continuing with:

Grateful Dead - Dave's Picks Vol. 9.

Harry Adams Field House, U. of Montana, Missoula, MT.  5/17/74.

Discs 2 and 3.

Tame Impala - Lonerism

Another discovery from local radio.  First listen.  Has a '60's psychedelic tilt.

I have the DVD of the Bass Hall performance - it is excellent, and that venue (in Fort Worth, Texas) is a first rate performance facility as well, which may contribute to the overall quality.

Klemperer builds the excitement much better than many by having a larger dynamic contrasts, manipulating timing ( not so mono tone as Walter ) and pulling out a certain instruments here and there to show the clearer melody line. Andante is not sweet and comes off rather stern but this is a very nice set.
