It is quite good, isn't it.

Indeed. It has got slightly mixed reviews but I got the feeling that it will be played quite a lot here at my place (playing now again).

I have learned to take a lot of reviews with a grain of salt. I like this album a lot.

Four Seasons

A bit of classical for a change. 24/192 download from Linn last night, My favourite version of The Four Seasons, beautifully played and just that little bit different. And that's just the first 12 of 36 tracks.

Zappa's 1974 Helsinki Concert

Among the twenty tracks that appear on this album, five had not been previously released, five appeared on Roxy & Elsewhere (1974), two had been originally released on Uncle Meat (1969), and one each from eight other albums dating from as early as 1968 to as late as 1984.  The quality of the performances in Helsinki benefited from the band's year of touring experience, during which they played these pieces over and over again.  Their facility with the instrumental complexities was noticeably improved in comparison with the earlier performances captured on the Roxy album.  Zappa even suggests that the band probably could have performed the pieces blindfolded by this time.  This particular concert in Helsinki ultimately acquired legendary status among Finnish rock aficionados.
