Lean and mean early 90's live digital recording. Extremely dynamic with wide swings of changing moods. Pity that the recording could be a lot richer. Sokolov shows a commanding presence for the occasion. But this set does not keep my interest through. Unusually drawn-out Funeral March.  Over elaborating the middle movements sound rather trite and forced. Chopin with a heavy overlay of Russian pathos does not gel for me.

Life Journey

Leon RussellAudio CD

on a rating system of 1 to 10 I give this one a 11

Stormy entrance of tempestuous diva and thrill a minute roller coaster ride begins. She carries on pretty much the same into Scherzo. Nothing is wrong with it except everything sounds the same bravura style. Beautifully played and dynamic, for sure but her notes do not flourish or swell.

The Presto is too deliberate leaving me no ambiguity.

Natalie Cole's debut album contains many smash hits.

'This Will be' is my favourite and this tune was said to be rejected by Aretha Franklin.

I love this groovy piano intro.

It sounds like an Aretha song because it was written by her writers at the time Yancy and Jackson. I have heard aversion sung by Aretha and it is good as well. It also came out when Aretha was going through a change of direction and wasn't popular.
