Thanks G. I am off to see the last day of the brilliant Sensing Spaces show, then a spot of lunch in the Keeper's House and coffee in the RA Friends' Room, then off to the Boleyn to watch West Ham (probably) get demolished by Liverpool. See how effortlessly I cruise between low, middle and high brows. ![]()

Charlie Haden & John Taylor 'Nightfall'
Not playing this right now, but played it twice last night. I didn't post last night as I wanted to include the picture of the album cover and I don't think it's possible to access the URL on an iPad.
I got this in the free bundle of test pressings last summer, but the copy I received was not the greatest pressing, so I bought it on CD at the Bristol show. This is a truly gorgeous album of music and must be one of the best I've heard on the Naim label to date, if not the best. Beautiful melodies enhanced by the delicate textures of Haden's bass. Sublime stuff indeed.
Red Hot & Blue a tribute to Cole Porter [various artist] from last night- Original 1990 vinyl

Graham

Not played this much so lets see if it grabs me this time.
G

Always found Rush a bit difficult, but ordered 'Moving Pictures' last week based on a number of reviews. Hence, I pulled this out of my record rack to give it a spin (original vinyl, clean sound).

What do you think Jeff? I quite liked it and rate it as one of the better tribute albums mind you the songs themselves are the main strength of the album.
I like looking through this but too many posters don't explain why anyone else should be interested. It's far more intriguing when people do say something about the music and its significance to the poster, or about why a particular version (vinyl/cd or original/reissue) is of interest.
Mainly I just look through my music and select something, I couldn't tell you why I selected a particular album apart from " I wanted to listen too it" , soon get boring that for you and me.
Recent CDs:-
Aimiee Mann - Lost in Space
Chris Rea - Auberge
What I really like about this thread is how often it prompts me to play something I have, but which I'd overlooked when browsing my CDs, or even better, to buy something new. Discovered some great new music that way.
I would also support this comment. I have been very often prompted to buy something based on the fact that some of the other forum members post something - with or without review. For me it also counts that I am not always feeling that comfortable to content wise discuss about the music - as I am not so capable always to get the differences between certain executions. I only post comments to the CD's when I feel comfortable to comment on the quality of the piece.

Pretty smooth...
Another good Adam Carroll album.

An old album of hers that was up for an Aussie album of the year award in 2012.

Edna Stern "Schumann "Fantaisie"
(amazon download)

Original Vinyl, lovely open sound with some great session players, quite a jazz influenced album, some good songwriting and still holds up well today, a much underrated album, well worth checking out.

Monster Magnet - Dopes to Infinity on CD.
No turntable for the next 5 days so I've had to dig out some old CD's.
Streaming FLAC

Frank Zappa - Jazz From Hell - cd.
'Twice Removed From Yesterday' - Robin Trower
On vinyl. Why? Because in returning Rush to the record rack, I scanned along to Ronin Trower and spotted this gem. Just wallowing in 'Daydream' as I type. I remember learning this piece when I was at school. Memories...
Ozric Tentacles - Pyramidion - cd only release.
