Backhaus absolutely nails this lovely lyrical Op.2 Sonata  communicating straight to the heart. No pretense. No obligatory drama. Just a frank conversation to reach out to us listeners. Big boned and direct and forceful than playful Kempff. Adagio contains sorrowful passages where Backhaus' simple key strokes leave memorable impressions. A stark contrast to many other rendering played by others  it's hard to believe it's even the same tune.

It is really cool to discover a tune that I thought was boring becomes something in hands of the right artist.

One of those occasions where a cover sounds better than the original. What a voice!

This is a brilliant album and I think Naim Label should do a  lot more to promote certain acts IMHO. Distilled, the last track,  is the best and my favourite track of the whole album but do I know.
