First press 1981 Harvest vinyl (prompted by another thread):

Nick only plays drums and produces, he didn't write any of the material (Carla Bley did). But it's a witty, playful album with great vocals by Robert Wyatt, while Chris Spedding pulls off a brilliant Gilmour impersonation.

CD. Picked this up last week and have played several times since. Have had 'Ceremonials' for a few years, but not sure why I waited so long to get this one. Really good album IMO.

No. 1 Russian Piano Trios: Beethoven Trio Bonn
Trio for Piano and Strings no 1 in D minor, Op. 32 by Anton Arensky
Trio for Piano and Strings no 1 in G minor "Trio élégiaque" by Sergei Rachmaninov
Trio for Piano and Strings no 1 in C minor, Op. 8 by Dmitri Shostakovich
Divertissement, Op. 126 by Nikolai Kapustin
A set of first piano trios by a group of Russians. The writer of the program notes, Iosif Raiskin graces the start of the article with a quote:
Je n'ai connu l'amour que par les peines. (I have only experienced love through suffering)
Mikhail Glinka
Quite apt, this, in explaining a Russian piano trio. A nice recording I like but this group is young. As Y or Z genners probably, they have energy and ambition but need to suffer more to first earn their stripes
.

The effect of guitarist Gilad Hekselman’s album Hearts Wide Open is that of a ceaseless and yet agreeable wind. Shying away from brute force, Hekselman fuels his compositions with subdued intensity by toying with the balance of tension and resolution.
An Israeli native, Hekselman has cut his teeth with many a jazz heavyweight since arriving in New York in 2004. He’s played with Ari Hoenig, Chris Potter, Joel Frahm, and several others. On Hearts Wide Open he collaborates with the equally distinguished musicians Marcus Gilmore on drums, bassist Joe Martin, and saxophonist Mark Turner. The group strikes somber moods, evokes expansive imagery, and provides a backdrop for intimate solos that slyly draw in the listener, rather than demanding attention with flash and flare.
