Haven't played this since I've added some Powerlines and a 555PS to my system. Wow. A CD that I thought was pretty flat and lifeless has been transformed. Lots of depth and detail. Lovely hit-hats. Am enjoying this album all over again.

Surprisingly bold and rugged but extremely spirited No.2 Sonata. I have never heard masculine touch out of Schnabel's recording I would have never guessed it's him! This is a 1933 recording and this pressing is taken down from the 78s so the hiss noise is high yet the piano stands strong and immediate preserving a decent amount of bass dynamics and resonance. It seems that this record escaped groove damages very common in the vinyl in this vintage. (1954 pressing: makes this relic a 60 years old )

My favourite Stanley Clarke album.
It's so cool that the Royal N can do funky stuff equally well.
