I have a ripped cd taken from the vinyl. Haven't played it in a long time though. If you wanted a cd copy it is still available.

Now that is something that I would very much like to hear. You are a very lucky as there were only 2 batches each of 30 copies plus 2 test copies per batch.  I'm green with envy........

Don't have the vinyl anymore and what will sicken you even more is when I ditched vinyl playback (my LP12 and Ittok are in a drawer) I gave away all my albums for nothing to friends. A copy of this album went that way.

Should also add that I have the Akarma and Machhu Pichhu records plus the M.P. download.  Just need to get the kissing spell cd, plus some of the other vinyl reissues and once I've completed the set, I can stop being so obsessive...........

Ewemon, do you know what an original Dark Round The Edges is worth ?

To be honest haven't got a clue. The collection I gave away included a lot of really rare records including stuff that was never released to the public by record companies. I had a copy of a JJ Cale with Christine Lakeland record feat them on their home porch that was never issued. You could hear the crickets in the back ground amongst a ton of other stuff.

Steve, thanks for reminding me of  this album. Haven't heard it for almost 30 years. Kept on listening to In  a Glass House and forgot how good it really is,

I have long loved the eponymous 'Cicadas' album, and have just received Rodney Crowell's 2003 album 'Fate's Right Hand'.

Witty, intelligent lyrics; great melodies and musicianship. Not a bum track.

I love the pleasant surprise like this.

Never heard of this conductor ( Konstantin Ivanov ) and this was a digitally remastered from its original '62 stereo recording. Alto did a nice job on this.

Surprisingly clean and natural with a minimum distortion on the high frequency, instruments preserving the tonal colours. Dynamic and excellent degrees of details and air. Bass could be a bit deeper but this is nicely done considering the vintage from USSR in this vintage. ( usually their recordings are a lot to be desired )

But what I am more impressed with is the performance.

Modern sounding and paces well. The intro has a feel of chilly but nice sunny spring feel about it. It make me anticipate what comes next. It has an excellent pacing and use of pauses before the next segment starts. Rhythmic as Toscanini on the march scene. A nice change from a heavy handed many others I have heard on this. March is perhaps less irony than Toscanini but just as urgent and menacing and gripping. Handling of slower and quieter bit also is expressive keeping the same momentum and tension for a good story telling. He's keeping the 2nd movement short and sweet as Toscanini almost like a prelude to the longer Adagio.

I can follow the tune so much easier on this than Lenny/NYP. ( sounds much better, too )

The last one sold on ebay realised £6,600.  There has been a lot of recent interest in the band so it's probably worth a lot more. One of your friends is a very fortunate person and I'm still green with envy.

I lost touch with him a couple of years back and the last I heard he was based in Indonesia travelling all over the world working in the Oil biz as a sort of trouble shooter but could try and track him down. His Mother and Father are deceased and I don't know where his sis is.

There was always an agreement between myself and anyone I gave albums to that if they still had them and I wanted it back I would get them but since it wasn't written down on paper it isn't worth much.

Kondrashin/Moscow Philharmonic '67 recording.

Straight laced and politically correct, not as intense as I thought.
