Going a little country/folk at the present time, effect of living on the prairies I guess. Early laid back beautiful sunny Sunday evening.

This caught my wife's ear a while back. "What's this we're listening to? It's great." I'm inclined to agree.

I would love to see her live Winky. She was playing a show nearby in February, but I was unable to make it. Bummer!

Beecham's Schubert Symphony No.1.
I would have never guess this is a Schubert score. Like Shostacovitch's first symphony at 19, this is an impressive work for a 16 years old Schubert. Beechuam handles it with a deft touch but keeping plenty of youthful outlook and liveliness making sure the tune does not turn stale. Wish the score was a bit more original or further developed to have more of Schubert signature.

Sliding into some of the Montreal Jazz/fusion sounds of Manteca. Lots of horns and synth, remember them as a bit of a party band from my younger years, a band that sounded better live than on disc most of the time (just the raw energy in the room). The disc is also a DMM process one, vanishing quiet for original vinyl with great dynamic range.

Steve Miller Band. Recall The Beginning... A Journey From Eden. On Capitol green label vinyl from 1972. Somewhat of a lost gem that I was happy to find today in VG+ condition. Engineered by Bruce Botnik (The Doors) and produced by Ben Sidran. Nice sound quality and bluesy Steve Miller music, an enjoyable LP .

It sure has been written like a Mozart tune, so why not play like a Mozart tune. This is not a bad way to go.
Gorgeous rich orchestration with many instrumental layers and lively rhythmic pulse giving this light weight score the weight and polish.

Inspired by the other thread about kent (Swedish pop). This was one of my favourite bands back in early 80s
