IMO Schubert's 15th string quartet is almost as beautiful as its big brother, the heavenly string quintet in C major, but for whatever reason it seems to be little known.

Preorder: Not Old, Not New [out June 24) cover art

Not like her earlier albums. This is her singing some of her favourite jazz trax.

another CD of this one. It's interesting music - somewhere between the structure of that period and the later romantic appeal - intriguing...

A very involving album indeed and constantly played in this household since its release. Never get bored of listening to it from beginning to end.

Kev,,

Streaming a couple of times before committing to vinyl as he's one of my favourite modern jazz pianists but that does not always translate any better on the black stuff. If originally recorded on a digital source it might sound a bit too contrived to my taste.

Tony, it's well recorded, as you might expect, but the weird thing is, that despite all the different instruments he plays, it sounds more uniform, less inventive, than he sounds when he plays solo piano or with his classic trio. An oddity. I wlll give it a few more goes but I think it's for the hardcore/completists.

I agree with you about KJ not sounding quite as good on vinyl as he does on CD - I swapped my Koln Concert LP for the CD and was much happier with it.
