Led Zeppelin III also Ripped to FLAC, my favourite Led Zep album so also a candidate for HD.

Lacuna Coil - Comalies, Ripped to FLAC. Metal with a Goth feel. Very well played and Cristina Scabbia's vocals soar above the instrumentation to almost architectural effect ... Oooh I've come over all poetic

yes do get them in HD - I have all of them in HD and they sound better than the original, at least in my humble opinion....

Thanks Bert, they're on the list. It just keeps getting longer though

I always love her expressive gutsy performance. Female Heifetz!

This particular set has a lot of drama and swing.

Another well recorded album by this guy...

Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No.1.

Slow sweet opening as if the tune started from the middle. There is a hint of magical air. Written by a 19 year old composer yet there are plenty of Prokofiev signatures showing in abundance.

Dear Kuma,

What is the record label, please?

Lovro von Matacic was a great conductor, who I was lucky enough to hear live just once. Haydn's "Bear" Symphony and Beethoven's Choral! The Philharmonia Orchestra in the Royal Festival Hall in about 1983 or '84. Unforgettable.

George,

It's only the US pressed Angel Records pressing. It's a reissue of UK Columbia mono. I wish I had the original pressing!

I don't have many of Matacic's recording. The only other recording I have is the one with Richter/Schumann set on later EMI recording.

Orchestra here is lofty but delicately expressive together with Oistrakh this is a classy rendition.

Lucky you've got to see him. Hardly anyone talks about him any more. He has visited Japan many times during his career since 1965. ( 9 times! )

Dear Kuma,

Thank you so much for that!

As you know Oistrakh is a real hero of mine as well, so this I shall look out for, as Prokofiev is also a great favourite, and can you believe that I own no commercial recording of any of his music? I have some private tapes now in iTunes, but not owned by any except among the players.

I know it only from the radio and playing it. Not from any commercial records!

Dear Kuma,

Found on EMI CD and ordered from Amazon UK.

Thanks for the heads up! My first ever Prokofiev commercial recording!
