Great album. Pulled it out a couple of weeks back to listen to it again as it had been a long time since I had done.

Hi Jeff. I loved their first album, I'll have to have a listen on Spotify  What did you think?

Tried some of this again and this is not something I will enjoy.

Everything seems to result in these loud, bombastic crescendoes that just become a muddled mess (at least to my ear through my system).  It is just excess for no reason.

Will give their earlier works a listen in a few days and see if I get on better with that.

Your experience may vary.

On CD:-

Barclay James Harvest - Baby James Harvest

starting the evening listening with Maag's Schubert Symphony 6.

It is lyrical and lovely sense of musical flow going down like a glass of light bubblies. Scherzo feels a bit sat on and not enough gallantry.

an excellent trio CD...

Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention  -  UNCLE MEAT  -  on 2cd, very bizarre it is too.

Brahms Piano Quartets #1-3 by Domus. Excellent ensemble playing, with everything in fine balance, just the way it should be for chamber music. Very highly recommended.

I have these on cd, and they are truly great performances. The sound lacks a bit in the bass. Does the vinyl sound good (with sufficient bass), or is it the same as the cd?

HAWKWIND - Friends And Relations: The Very Best Of + Rarities - Limited Edition

2cd compilation taken from the three albums and also included bonus stuff - Hawkwind live and solo projects and related bands. Very entertaining listening for a couple of hours - "Space Invaders" by Nik Turner's Inner City Unit, and Mike Moorcock's Deep Fix tracks are my favourites, along with a demo version of Robert Calvert's "Lord Of The Hornets".
