Ashford & Simpson: Send It

Great R&B writing duo who was somewhat under rated.

This tune is my fave from this album.(Eric Gale on rhythm guitar & Ralph McDonald on percussions! ) Undeniably disco and 70s. A care free days before AIDS hit the scene and long before the 9/11.

Martin Zeller - JS Bach, 6 Suites & Violoncello Solo Senza Basso

Felt like hearing some Bach Cello Suites this evening.  Haven't played this one in a while.

What's interesting about this set is Schnittke's cadenza instead of usual Kreisler. Abrupt angular modern sound with lots of pizzicato accents.

Marriner's orchestration is rich and oppulent but keeping the rhythmic pulse along maintaining lively forward momentum.

The final movement showcasing Kremer's laser precision reminding me of Sviatoslav Richter. This is a set that I admire but I can't warm up to it for some reasons.

Very cool, Debs!  Glad you are enjoying it.  I bought the CD in 1991.  Second live album I picked up.  Now after many more, this is still a very enjoyable album.  I like the packaging of the vinyl as well.

I haven't listened to this in a long time.  Thanks for the reminder!

Ramona Lisa - Arcadia

Found this when browsing the record shop.  Interesting that all music was composed on a computer; no instruments were used.  Decided to give it a try.  After a couple of listens, it is pretty good.  For me it falls into the Feist, Taken By Trees vein.
