Listened to this first thing this morning.

Albeniz, Iberia and others by Marc Andre Hamelin - thrilling

HAWKLORDS LIVE  - on cd.

A classic line-up from 1978 - includes powercut half way through "Death Trap" - "Sonic Attack" segues into "World Of Tiers" - a track from 1980's "Levitation" album. The only thing missing to make this a perfect recording is a version of "Who's Gonna Win The War?", instead we have a version of "Over The Top" - which ain't too bad.

Earlier ...

Elbow - The Take Off And Landing Of Everything

Elbow - The Take Off And Landing Of Everything. Ripped to FLAC. Brilliant album, almost as good as Build a Rocket Boys. All good but for me Charge is the standout track.

And now ...

Hungry Lucy - Apparitions

Hungry Lucy - Apparitions, FLAC. Had bought 'Pulse of the Earth' from Bandcamp as a download following a recommendation on here and enjoyed it so much I downloaded the rest of their albums . And all for just over a tenner. They're genre is 'darkwave' apparently but to sum them up is difficult. Have a listen though and you'll not regret it.

Frank Zappa and The Mothers Of Invention - Weasels Ripped My Flesh -  on cd

Good to know where AFX Twin got the inspiration for the covers of "I Care Because You Do" and the "Richard D. James" albums. Music is totally different though....well maybe not...sounds like a f###### jungle!

Walter/NY Phil Mozart's Requiem. '56 recording.

Westminster Choir

Alto  – Jennie Tourel

Bass  – William Warfield

Soprano  – Irmgard Seefried

Tenor  – Leopold Simoneau

Blending of solo singer is excellent producing delicate but bold natural body. Walter's orchestration is bland but ok for serving up the voices. Tourel's voice again is not supple and sounds stressed a bit.

Perhaps less urgency and dark undertone but the descending voice of angels is half way convincing.

Popular David/BBC Requiem sounds too polished to me.

Sanitised grand rendition which sounds fantastic but missing intimacy and that underlying unsettling rumble to be potent.

He won a John Lennon songwriter award and you wouldn't think so on this evidence.

It's not just interesting - this is very good indeed. Recommended, just bass, drums and sax can be very exciting....

Streaming from the Bandcamp website

As Russell (Sorren) and others have said this is a band worth investigating. It's my first listen this morning and I like them alot so much so that I am following in others paths and downloading 4 albums off the site.

As happens so often this is music I would probably never have discovered without this forum.
