I have tried ordering this on vinyl from Amazon but both the original and replacement copy were badly warped

They suspended selling it while they investigated why but I see it is available again now, maybe I will try again.

Hope you eventaully get a decent LP, apye. I suspect you won't be disappointed.

The trio misses nothing in terms of details moving swfitly but maintaining clarity and articulation. Hats off!

I look for their Schubert pieces. Thanks for the tip!

Dear Kuma,

The Schubert Trio in E Flat played by Serkin and the brothers Busch is a London EMI recording, and has had extensive release on EMI both on LPs and CDs.

Is the Beethoven "Ghost Trio" Serkin-Busch Trio recording on Sony-CBS [i.e. American Columbia]?

I have never encountered it. I am delighted by the prospect of finding another time performance of this!!!

ATB from George.

PS: I agree with your high opinion of the Sibelius First Symphony! And the Barde is one of my favourite short pieces!

Dear Kuma,

I have done a little hunting and the Ghost Trio from Serkin and the brothers Busch is on transfers from American Columbia. I shall be getting this one soon!

Again, thanks for the heads up!

UK original mono vinyl...

Posted on: 28 June 2014 by MDS

Having seen many positives posts about this album I thought I'd give a try. First play this afternoon.

Gosh, I've only played disc 1 so far but I now know what all the fuss is about. This is haunting. Very high quality re-production, too.  I think I'll be playing this often.

Thanks to all those who have recommended it. This thread continues to enrich my music collection.

George,

US Columbia's budget label reissue Odyssey pressing is what I have.  A side is the Ghost and B side is Brahm's C Major. Probably taken down from the 78s since this was recorded in 1948.
